What is TRANSCO?
Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO) is a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA) and is licensed by the Regulation and Supervision Bureau to own, develop, operate and maintain power transmission and bulk water transmission networks within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Northern Emirates. TRANSCO undertakes each day to program and despatch power generation and water production facilities sufficient to meet the electricity and water demands of customers and users connected to the transmission networks. TRANSCO is also responsible for the safe, secure and reliable transmission of water and electricity from the producers Independent Water and Power Producers (IWPPs) to the distribution networks operated by Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC).

When was TRANSCO established?
In 1998 Law (2) was passed by the Government of Abu-Dhabi concerning the regulation of the water and electricity sector. On January 1st 1999, Abu-Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) was set up as an entity wholly owned by the Government and responsible for making sure that its group of companies were set up and running; prior to that the Water and Electricity Department (WED) was the responsible body. ADWEA are responsible for being the focal point between the Government and the group companies, with TRANSCO being the transmission & despatch arm of the sector and the distribution elements then being controlled by Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC).
What is TRANSCO’s relationship with the Abu Dhabi Government?
TRANSCO is wholly-owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi.

What is TRANSCO’s role in supporting Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure?
TRANSCO is responsible for building, operating and maintenance of the Abu Dhabi transmission and despatch network. The physical infrastructure to ensure transmission of power and water from the generation companies to the distribution companies.

To meet this objective, we shall use one of two approaches. One approach is for non-graduate UAE National employees, and the other is for the UAE National School leavers.

Head office is located in Abu Dhabi. Offices located also in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ain & Al Mirfa.
